This cord is made of
cotton and features seven knots that indicate the seven joys and
sorrows of St. Joseph. This cord is worn as a girdle for purity or
chastity and humility and wearing it around the shoulders is for
obedience. After purchasing this cord it should be blessed by a
priest with the faculties for the blessing. Pius IX approved a
special formula for the blessing of the cord of St. Joseph.
NOTE: when you receive your cord, it will be long with a knot at each end. You will need to add 6 knots to one of the ends.
