Lent is our forty days of prayer, fasting and almsgiving with Our Lord in the desert, preparing for the joy of Easter. Lighting the candles together at the dinner table, with a prayer and maybe a verse of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," keeps the family focused on what the season is really about.
Lighting a Lenten Candleholder each week during Lent is a practical, tangible way to remember Christ's journey to the Cross, as well as our own commitments to draw closer to God during Lent.
This cross from Avalon Gallery™ featuring Christ's purple robe, crucifixion nails and crown of thorns is ideal for personal or family devotional time. The candleholder holds six candles, one for each Sunday in Lent. The rose candle is for Laetare Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent, and the red candle is for Palm Sunday.
