Description

Firmly rooted in the Church's magisterium and the wisdom of the Saints, Life of Union with Mary presents a simple philosophy of life that is built around the relations of Mary to God and to man. That devotion to her can be a part of everyday life is a recurring theme in this devotional book that explains the extreme importance of union with Mary by showing its marvelous results.

Father Neubert not only gives the dogmatic basis for union with Mary, but details methods of working at and achieving it. He considers every spiritual exercise from this special angle and exemplifies his directions by quotations from many religious and laymen - including Saints - who have achieved union with Mary.

Throughout the book he stresses that by giving special attention to Mary the soul intends only to become more united with Christ, to become more like Him, and thus to most perfectly fulfill His mission and to help spread His kingdom on earth. Author of thirteen volumes on the Blessed Virgin, eight of which have appeared in English, Father Neubert is widely recognized as an outstanding Marian scholar.

Life of Union with Mary, written in the tradition of his other outstanding works, is nevertheless unique among Marian books. It will find a place on the bookshelf of everyone - priest, religious, and layman - who desires a simple way to spiritual progress

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Fr. Emile Neubert, a Marianist (Society of Mary, SM), one of the finest Mariologists of the twentieth century, is not only the author of scholarly works, but of an amazing number of excellent books on matters spiritual and pastoral from a Marian perspective. Born in Ribeauvillé, France on May 8, 1878. He began his religious life with the Society of Mary in 1892. He was ordained a priest in Fribourg, Switzerland on Aug. 5, 1906, and was awarded the Doctorate in Theology from the University of Fribourg in 1907.

This study was the first doctoral thesis in patristics on the Mother of God ever to be presented in a Catholic faculty of theology. It initiated the career of one of the Mariologists most responsible for the development of this area of theology over the past century. Still more important to his career was the discovery, around this time, of the spiritual heritage of Bl. William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Society of Mary. Between 1907 and 1921, Fr. Neubert labored in the United States for his Order (for the most part in Missouri and Ohio) serving as Master of Postulants and then of Novices.

In 1921 he returned to Europe, taught philosophy briefly in Strasbourg and then, from 1922 through 1949, he acted as Rector of the Marianist Seminary in Fribourg. In 1935, he was one of the founding members of the prestigious Mariological Society of France, and a member of the International Marian Academy in Rome. The immense number of his books and articles (184 titles), most of which enjoy broad appeal, are a testimony to the influence he exercised on the Marian movement of our times and the spirituality and apostolate associated with it. Among friends and correspondents who promoted his books are such great Marian figures as Mr. Frank Duff, founder of the Legion of Mary, and St. Maximilian M. Kolbe, founder of the Militia of the Immaculate and first City of the Immaculate [Niepokalanów] in Poland. Fr. Neubert was a gifted scholar who devoted his entire life and all his energies to the service of God's Mother and ours. More than this, he was a holy priest and religious, totally consecrated to Mary, who lived the doctrine he proclaimed.
