St. Pius X was a pope in the early twentieth century. He knew that holy children would lead to a holier church. He personally would often stop in the streets to talk with children and he made sure that every parish had religion classes so that children would learn about their faith. He also lowered the age of first communion to seven, so that as soon as a child could understand about the Holy Eucharist, he or she could receive Its graces. He is the patron saint of first communicants.
