Apologetics Books: Browse Our Catholic Apologetics Book Selection
Not only is it important to believe in your faith, but you must also be ready to defend it and give explanations for your faith. Apologetics is the ability to give these explanations when others question why you believe. When your non-Catholic friends or strangers ask you about certain beliefs or practices, make sure that you have an idea of why you believe what you believe. Even if you aren't as knowledgeable about your faith as you would like to be, it won't take you much time to learn the arguments and reasonings which have withstood the test of time. The books below will answer both general and specific questions which are commonly asked.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves. John Paul II Fides et Ratio
