St.
Lucy gives witness to both virginity and martyrdom. The name "Lucy"
means light, and for this reason she is invoked by those who suffer
from diseases of the eye. Her feast
day,
celebrated on December 13 in the midst of winter darkness, is a
symbol of how Lucy brought the light of Christ to the world. She is
invoked as the patron of those seeking good eyesight, the visually
impaired, those suffering from eye diseases, and those seeking the
light of faith.
The
novena booklet includes morning and evening prayer, Thirteen Days
Devotion in Honor of St. Lucy to Contemplate Her Life of Heroic
Virtue, Prayer for Those Suffering from Eye Disease, Prayer for the
Preservation of the Gift of Sight, and more.
