               Edith Stein was one of the most
intelligent philosophers of the early twentieth century.  After her conversion to Catholicism, she
taught for a short time until the Germans stopped her because she was of Jewish
descent.  She was eventually killed at
Auschwitz.  She is the patron of martyrs
and loss of parents.
