24" American Made Chalk Composition Statuary ST. MARTIN

Saint Martin de Porres is one of the most unique and gifted saints in the Church. Keeping a statue of St. Martin nearby is a wonderful way to commemorate his miraculous gifts, his humble obedience to God, and his respect for all creatures. This breathtaking hand-painted 24" statue is magnificently detailed with lifelike facial features and bold color. The statue features Saint Martin in his Dominican Friar’s cassock and scapular holding his beloved crucifix near his heart. The statue is made of American chalk composition, and the artist has etched St. Martin’s name into the base of the statue. This is definitely one of the most beautiful and unique American statues ever crafted.

Saint Martin de Porres is the Patron saint of social justice. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1579. His father was a Spanish gentleman and his mother a black freed woman from Panama. At fifteen, he became a lay brother at the Dominican Friary at Lima and spent his whole life there as a barber, farm laborer, almoner, and caretaker of the sick, among other things. God endowed Martin with many graces and wondrous gifts such as aerial flights and bilocation. St. Martin was also a close friend of St. Rose of Lima. He died on November 3, 1639 and was canonized on May 6, 1962. His Feast Day is November 3.
