Description

In When Someone You Love Drinks Too Much, families and friends of alcoholics will find a lot of help. But the book focuses not on problem drinkers, but on the lives, needs, behaviors, and attitudes of those who are involved with them.

In addittion to providing psychological and social coping skills, the author shows families and friends how to surrender their pain and concern over the drinker to the Holy Spirit, who is the real source of recovery for all involved.

IF YOU LOVE A PROBLEM DRINKER, DON'T TRY TO CHANGE HIM(OR HER)!

"In When Someone You Love Drinks Too Much, William Kraft throws a life-line to the people who are often most devastated by alcohol abuse - family and friends. For anyone caught in the seemingly endless cycle of dashed hopes, frustration, and fear as they watch a loved one repeatedly abuse alcohol, Dr. Kraft presents a clearly written, practical guide rooted in a spiritual approach to personal change. This is a book of help and hope."-James M. Kelly, PH.D., LSW

"If you love someone who drinks too much, it is providential that you have found this book! You will find yourself described here. Especially welcome in his inclusion of relationships with the seldom-mentioned "functional" alcoholic, who drinks but "functions." The blessing is that Dr. Kraft gives down-to-earth, practical advice on the things you can change to dramatically improve your life. The book gives unique insights about the role spirituality can play in that process."-Sharon Eakes, Formerly Clinical Director, Gateway Rehabilitation System

WILLIAM F. KRAFT is professor of psychology at Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and also has a private practice as a licensed psychologist.
