Living the Good Life

Living the Good Life

Living the Good Life is an introduction to the Church's moral teaching for the everyday Catholic. It explains the overall landscape of moral theology by examining the foundational issues, and then, using a Question and Answers format, it tackles many specific moral problems that Catholics face today, as well as some burning moral issues that our culture faces as a whole. Abortion, contraception, war and the death penalty are explained in detail, exploring why the Church teaches as she does. Explanations are rooted in Scripture, the natural law, a proper understanding of Vatican II and the moral vision of John Paul II, making this little book one of the best for college and adult education courses in Catholic morality. From Inside: Q. Something's puzzling me. The church teaches us that we have freedom and that we must follow our consciences. Then, the Church gives us moral norms that we should follow. What's the point, then, of freedom and conscience?... The trick is to understand properly the terms freedom and conscience - and they are perhaps the most misunderstood ideas today. I am free to follow my conscience often means I can do what I want as long as I don't hurt anyone else. Perhaps you've been hurt by someone who thinks that way - or you certainly know someone who has. Time to dissect these terms!...
